In order of how it happened:

Ashleigh and Jakob--Hip hop by Taboleon
Pre-stuff: What the fuck, these two have performed in the early half of the show EVERY WEEK. How does that keep happening?? Ok, this will be a real test for Ashleigh's long term chances on this show. For me anyway. Everything up to now has been not far from her style. So if she can pull off hip hop and/or be likable trying she MIGHT win me over. We shall see. OMG Jakob was doing the "Bye Bye Bye" dance in his video!!! I just died...

Performance: Hey I just downloaded this song like 3 days ago! Weird... The text message on the screen is laaaaame. I like ashleigh's outfit.... omg, I actually like this! And whoa, they just did some awesome flip thing! For once my eye is drawn to her instead of him.

Judging: The idea of Nigel having nefarious texts is disturbing to me. He likes their growth and gives props to Ashleigh for growing faster than expected. And yes, I'm one of those people eating my words because I'm actually liking her now. Weird. Props to Adam for owning up to it too.

(Um....why is Megan Mullaly doing a cheap-looking commercial for I Can't Believe It's Not Butter??)

Karen and Kevin--Broadway by Spencer Liff
Pre-stuff: They performed first last week and 2nd this week, just sayin' show! Someone on the comms pointed out that Karen has a flat face and now I can't stop noticing lol. Kevin needs to prove to me Peter didn't go in vain last week.

Performance: I've never seen Sweet Charity, but the little glimpses I've had of it haven't impressed me. It seems like a show that hasn't aged well. What is with wardrobe giving him unfortunate pants every week?? Built-in handicap there. He's actually doing some impressive moves, which I'm sure he won't get credit for per usual. This is kinda weird music to dance to, like there's no melody. They never looked bad, but it was really quite boring. I sense doom for them.

Judging: Apparently Nigel is going first every time tonight. While I agree with Nigel on everything he's saying, it's partially his fault that she's become synonymous with "hot latina" and no one takes her seriously as a regular dancer now. Ok, those sparkly shoes are awesome. And awwww he looks sad. While I wish he went home last week (and hammy Peter totally would have done well with this routine!) I do like Kevin, I wish I could give him a pity vote without voting for Karen because I've never cared about her.

Noelle and Russell--Foxtrot by Eddie Simon (why did they get stuck with this again?)
Pre-stuff: Ok, that clip of Russell singing "This Little Light of Mine" just warmed my cold heart. Gawd, Noelle is dull. "I was such a bad dancer when I was 6!" Um, isn't everyone? (Except for the baby on youtube dancing to "Single Ladies" he's amazing!)

Performance: I'm liking Russell's moves a lot. Lots of energy. Her not so much. She's not doing anything wrong, I just don't care. And that hairstyle makes her face look really odd imo. The tempo of the choreography doesn't match the song, and it's weird to me. The foxtrot isn't supposed to be fast, so why not dance to a slower song?

Judging: Everyone approves. Apparently they looked legitimately happy instead of faux happy. I didn't notice, too busy admiring Russell's lines. He's amazing.

Channing and Viktor--Jazz by Tyce! Should be amazing, right?
Pre-stuff: Um...Viktor's old dancing didn't look bad to me, the layperson, so... whatev lol. Blackbirds? Apparently, Tyce is trying to be Wade this week.

Performance: Once again, Tyce has to go completely literal. A dance about blackbirds sung to "Blackbird" with the dancers dancing around a cage. SIGH. Crazy ass music which worked for the first couple moments but then became weird. idk they're doing everything well. i just find myself not caring still. i think it's just them. i just don't care about them. reading the comm reaction i have to agree that the music was distracting.

Judging: Awwww eye stitches. I agree that Viktor hasn't had a star moment, though I'll go farther and say he probably never will. Same for Channing, I enjoy her enough when she's in front of me, but I couldn't care less when she's not. Ha Adam just agreed about the music!

(OK, seriously, the last three couples have NEVER had to perform in the first hour. And often in the same order! I do not understand this.)

Kathryn and Legacy--Paso Doble by Tony Meredith
Pre-stuff: I've grown to not enjoy this style at all. It's more about the show than the substance, especially if it's not well done. So we shall see how this goes... Ok, the setup to the pants ripping was actually funny.

Performance: Shirtless Legacy! OMG why has this not happened before?? This is actually really good. His intensity is amazing. Her dress is too ruffly and distracting so it's harder to see her form, but from what I can tell she did really well.

Judging: After the break? Really? This is how you're going to fill the hour? Weird and wrong... and I ended up not paying attention to it at all because i moved on to something else during commercial lol.

(Boo, why is the Dizzy Feet stuff not getting televised? I want to see... Also, notice who the last two couple are. Mmmmhmm.)

Ellenore and Ryan--Contemporary by TRAVIS ZOMG!
Pre-stuff: Almost all of these people were horrible as children! Bunny ears lolz. Aaaaaand there's the marriage mention. They always lull me into thinking it won't happen, but then it does. Sigh.

Performance: Lalala just dancing on the street OH HEY I know you and your open shirt! Hahaha... this is cute! They're really quite good, the pair of them. Too bad this came at the end of the show where I was getting bored and just wanted the show done.

Judging: Yeah, nigel, they got "lucky." (idk, it's supposed to be random but I'm not convinced) I like hearing what the choreographers say about them. Wow, Mary's crying over him? I like when she cries, it makes her real. Awww, the routine made Adam catch his breath, you guys! Good Lord, it feels like they've been talking for an hour. I know they have to fill out the rest of the hour, but it's not fair that they're getting extra judging time.

Mollee and Nathan--Pop Jazz by Laurie Ann Gibson (haaa!)
Pre-stuff: Not at all surprised to learn he was the baby.

Performance: ZOMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Why must they tarnish it?? Mollee really doesn't have good facials when she's performing. And that red lipstick is washing out her face. Yeeah, this isn't really working for me. I don't know if it's the weird wardrobe choices (he's a 19th century farmhand and she's going to an 1980's prom) or if it's them or both, but...no this isn't working. Her moves are sloppy. I want to see Brandon and Jeanine perform this.

Judging: Nigel says it's better than last week's shit so...yay for them? I like that he's pushing Nathan. Being paired with Mollee is bringing him down. Her personality brings out the immature personality in him and it's not good. Why the hell does Mary insist on calling them the "dream team"? Who decided that? (Ha! The comm just told me Laurie Ann is Lady GaGa's main choreographer, which explains why she had them do the "thriller" hands from the Bad Romance video)

Bottom 3 Predictions
Judges: Kevin and Karen, which means they'll both be going home tomorrow. They'll spare whoever else falls in the bottom for sure. And I have to agree with that. They might be tempted to keep Karen over Mollee depending on the solos but that would mean pairing her up with Nathan, which... would not work. At all.

Me:
Karen and Kevin: obvious

Mollee and Nathan: Barring another rally of Nathan fans they should end up in the bottom. Pop jazz is a weird style that doesn't always translate. Plus the dance just wasn't good, so yeah. (and OMG srsly when I went to type Nathan's name in that sentence I totally started to type "Jacob." I haz New Moon on da brainz you guyz!)

Channing and Viktor: They danced well, but the routine wasn't cohesive and not as memorable as it should have been.

Also in trouble: Noelle and Russell, because they did a foxtrot early in the episode. But I think Russell fans will pull through.

Random Gushing
Kris Allen's album came out today, and OMG it's amazing!

Just for you, friend! Look at his feet...

And the Master's response:

Well, I must fold laundry and pack for the journey tomorrow. Gonna meet up this weekend with this GQ hotness:

So good night mice and good night moon!

dazzling choreography

Overall a rough night. Tomorrow's results should be weird because most of the routines were mediocre to not-so-good. I'm posting my commentary because I can and I have opinions that matter to me lol.

In order of how it happened:

Beginning: I just want to say I hate the new way they do the intro dances. The camera cuts to a far shot to show the next dancer running up so you really don't see much of the dancer's thing at all and it's really distract-WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH ASHLEIGH'S PANTS?! They're like red poofy layers of fail! Those pants just killed part of my soul I think.... In the audience are the kids from season five who made the tour. ZOMG JASON!!! Squee. Now, see, Dizzy Feet is a proper thing to pimp in the beginning of the show. Not the Paula nonsense. I don't approve of the whole "What America doesn't know about me bit" bit because really there's a shit ton we don't know about these people. Like if they phrased it as "Interesting tidbit about me..." it'd be fine. Just sayin'....

Karen and Kevin--the hustle.......what? Did they make this style up? I didn't know it existed outside of that one song...

Pre-stuff: Holy wow, she's getting divorced? That's pretty heavy... Awww, look at him posing on the Great Wall.

Performance: Oh, poor boy forced to wear those pants... that's just not right. Um... I don't know, this is okay i suppose. I'm not sure what this faux-style is supposed to look like... an easier form of disco? Kevin did a cute little leap in there, that was nice. And I liked the end pose, that was smooth and nifty.

Judging: I love how the judges are just going with the idea that this is a real dance style that actually matters. And THANK YOU Adam for admitting that you guys have been ignoring Kevin in favor of drooling over Karen's ass, that's been bugging me. The irony here is that when a performance calls for her to be more "restrained" she becomes boring to me, and when she's overly sexy and the judges overly swoon I just get annoyed. So methinks Karen will never have a fan in me. I'm holding out for Kevin though... if only for the smizing. I imagine people are gonna forget this routine pretty quickly.

*The sytycd comm told me they actually have used the hustle before and it's also used in sytycd canada. Yeeah... I still don't care.

Ashleigh and Jakob--jazz by Mandy Moore
Pre-stuff: Guess what you guys she's a nerd! She like went to college and stuff instead of spending all of her money on dance lessons! Isn't that wacky?! Who does that?? Aww, Jakob + Jeanine = awesome x 2. Now, I hate Mandy Moore jazz routines like 99% of the time. I think there was one in season 4 I enjoyed. So this should be "fun"...

Performance: Again the silhouette thing is neat. I like her shoes. ...............Oh fuck me I'm actually liking this! OMG JAKOB LEAP! His leaps are like the dancing equivalent of Adam Lambert's voice. Wow... is this the beginning of the end of the Ashleigh hate for me?

Judging: I love how Adam always points out awesome stuff like choreographers always incorporating Jakob leaps. OMG bonus Joel Grey reference!

*These two always end up performing in the earlier part of the show. Weird.

Pauline and Peter--Do you ever notice that the stronger couples never get the quickstep? I sense a conspiracy js
Pre-stuff: Um... they really should have done her thing first lol. New choreographers, yay! No Tony and Melanie handicap. I actually really enjoy the quickstep, so it's sad that it's always the dreaded thing on this show.

Performance: This is actually going pretty well as far as I can tell. I think he's better though. Her footwork isn't clean enough. Peter was the clear highlight.

Judging: I agree that the story really helped them here, but is that such a bad thing? Other styles do the same all the fucking time. I think that's what will keep them out of the bottom because a lot of people probably don't appreciate how difficult the quickstep is. I think this is a style that just cannot be fairly learned in 3 days. Ha, Mary agreed with me about Pauline.

Kathryn and Legacy
--Broadway not by Tyce, so promising!
Pre-stuff: I totally didn't pay attention...lol

Performance: Those shorts are just unfortunate. And her top is awful too. But OMG it's the Jungle Book song! This was actually pretty cute. I kept getting distracted by the awful-shorts-of-doom, but there was nifty stuff in there.

Judging: I agree with Adam that I didn't get what her character was. And since I wasn't paying attention to the intro at all I was a bit lost. Wow, Adam's critiques are the best. Cute, clever, and HELPFUL. It was the awful wardrobe, Nigel. That's what was off about her lol. Yeah, Nigel, because Guys and Dolls is a show known for it's DANCING. In my mind that's a show for middle-aged actors who are either bored or need a paycheck.

Channing and Viktor--Contemporary by Stacey Tookey!
Pre-stuff: Heh, Viktor was a goth kid lol.

Performance: Hmmmm, I like the dance, but I don't think it's because of them. It was solid and nice, I think it's just me not connecting.

Judging: Nigel agrees with me! And, Mary, the "makeup-wearing glam god" is Adam Lambert, not this fellow.

Ellenore and Ryan--krump by Lil' C! He just said "synergy"!  And "be comfortable with being uncomfortable." Omg, I've missed him
Performance: Um, this is...okay? Not really liking it and I'm not sure why.

Judging: Seriously, I love everything that comes out of Adam's mouth! Aw, damn, we almost went an entire show without mentioning the marriage thing, lol. Oh well. Oh, he just said "yeoman" that's amazing! And Ryan has a good point that it's just fucking hard to move all that mass around. And ha, Nigel just admitted that Tabolean waters their shit down lmao.

*The comm just told me Lil'C did this routine for sytycd canada. Blah, I just don't like the choreographers doing that.

Mollee and Nathan
--Salsa, which... should be weird considering they're, like, 12
Pre-stuff: She just made deafness annoying, which means she's some sort of evil. Stfu, Mollee, PLEASE.

Performance: Hmmm, this isn't very clean. He's doing a better job of selling it. She's doing the steps okay, but there's no charisma to them. EW said he looked like A.C. Slayter in this, which I have to agree. Plus a dash of two of Taylor Lautner. Which, unless he's shirtless, is just not a good combo.

Judging: And again Adam proves he's the best. I think he has a good point that this exposed all of their weaknesses. But how does he know they're fan favorites? "French fried"?? Nathan...shut up and smile. That's what you need to be doing right now, not saying things.

*These 2 always perform closer to the end of the show. Again, wtf?

Noelle and Russell--Afro Jazz. I've heard good things about this style so I'm hopeful
Pre-stuff: The princess and the frog, ha!

Performance: He's shirtless! Ok, I love this! Can we have this style every week please? With Russell doing it every time? She's doing fine I suppose. It's not like she's the focus here. Ha, she kissed the frog! Cute.

Judging: "Noelllle, kissin' the frooog, on the staaage." Adam reading my mind YET AGAIN! The dance is Jeanine-approved. Omg I would have loved to see her dance this routine. Mary, dear, Russell has been on the hot tamale train since his first audition, fyi. Nigel, fuck you and your hatred of Russian folk dancing, that was entirely your fault. Oh right, Noelle was in the bottom last week... she's one of the ones i always forget exists. (See Channing, Viktor, Karen, Kevin....)

Filler at the end of the show
Ok, the judges totally chose Mollee and Nathan as being in trouble so that people will vote for them. I c what u did thur jidges!

Favorite routine of the week: Ashleigh and Jakob jazz, which... is odd for me for so many reasons. Afro jazz with Russell and Noelle was a very close second.

Current Favorite couple: Legacy and Kathryn

Prediction for bottom 3
: This is tough because it's the first week of public voting and the routines were all weird tonight.

Karen and Kevin--No one will remember this routine existed. I had already forgotten by the time they did the review at the end of the show.

Channing and Viktor--Not because of the performance, I'm just not sure fans will show up for these two.

Mollee and Nathan--I think they should be in the bottom based on their performance, but I'll actually be surprised if they are. I doubt that there's a large contingent of Mollee fans, but there are a lot of Nathan fans and I don't know if they'd willingly put him in the bottom. Also if Mollee were put in the bottom you can pretty much guarantee the judges won't send her home, so it'd be pointless anyway. I'm guessing Nathan fans will rally.

Also in trouble: Pauline and Peter because their routine was early in the show and they had quickstep. Maybe Ellenore and Ryan because of the lackluster performance, but I think their fans will take care of them.

And because he managed to get 2 mentions in this post:

JFC HOW MUCH DOES HE THINK I CAN HANDLE IN ONE DAY?

First, "Time for Miracles" leaked yesterday ZOMFG!!!!!!! And it's amazing and everything I wanted. I love disaster movies and the awesome rock ballads featured on their soundtracks. (See "Armageddon" and "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing") "2012" cannot come out fast enough for me.

So on top of that, I discovered these pics on another comm about an hour ago, and..........there are no words appropriate for this.

Yeeeeeah.... this is gonna be a Twilight post. My apologies in advance. Because of all the crap that comes with it, I sometimes I forget that I'm actually a ~fan~ of the series lmao. This time last year I could not get enough of this shit. And a sad part of me kind of misses that... the rest of me wanders what's wrong with that part.

Supposedly going to be the cover of his album. Seriously, I can't stop staring at this lmao. They've managed to highlight almost every wonderful thing about his face and more! I've always had a *thing* for his neck, and what do they do? Style him in a LOW-CUT SHIRT! That and the leather jacket, it's just... wow. Tomorrow is gonna be a sucky day for me, so this was a nice perk.

EDIT: 19 confirmed this is the cover!

Welcome to today's happy post! I should try to make this a regular thing methinks.

**Random happy thought: I love musical episodes of The Simpsons. There was one just on featuring parodies of songs from Evita. Freakin' Evita! Like... how many Simpson's viewers would actually get that reference? The same goes for musical parodies on Family Guy. I'm sure most viewers got the Willy Wonka one, but the touchdown song based on "Shipoopi" from The Music Man? How many of these kids have even heard of that show?? (Moments like this make me feel 80 years old lol.)

OMG a Treehouse of Horror episode just came on! WIN!

ANYWAY... the theme of this post is pretty much a "ooo hot guys!" post....with a couple of gays thrown in for good measure. Though the gays are hot themselves... so.... still works.   ;)

So, without further ado, prepare to... )

She may be all cute and unassuming now, but this little bundle of awesome is most likely the only hope for the Gosselin family.

Now, for the record, I’ve taken to avoiding most of “Jon & Kate + A Swirling Pit of Fail” for quite some time now. Which makes me sad, because I love those kids and the delightful things they do and say. Having watched the show from the very beginning when it was just a single one-hour special, it’s hard to stomach what it’s become and the resulting consequences. So my only real exposure nowadays is whatever headlines I catch in supermarket checkouts, or links on EW.com or whatever. I don’t watch the stupid interviews they do.

That being said…

Divorces happen. I get that. My parents are divorced and are both remarried. It was for the most part amicable and my sister and I went through relatively little crap because of it. I realize that we had it better than a lot kids in the same situation. It could have been much worse and I am forever grateful that it wasn’t.

However, this is a luxury that the Gosselin kids will NEVER EVER have, and it’s not because their lives happened to be captured by a film crew. IF ONLY that was the issue. I don’t believe that Jon and Kate would have lived happily ever after if there had been no show. The stress of having multiples aside, the two happy lovebirds we saw in their old home movies are lifetimes removed from the Jon and Kate of today, even from the Jon and Kate of a couple years ago. Whether it was the stress of life, kids, whatever… their personalities were both changed enough to break down whatever the fuck it was that brought them together in the first place. The added stresses of a reality show may have brought it on earlier, but come on. It was probably going to happen.

What didn’t have to happen was allowing this difficult transition in their lives to be documented for national television. Oh wait, sorry, I suppose the kids did have, what, 2 MONTHS off to adjust. More than enough time to cope with your parents’ marriage officially falling apart. No problem. On with the show! (To be fair, I was very happy that they kept the kids in the house, with the parents switching on and off living there. That’s an option I didn’t have. Aaaaand moving on…) Putting aside the fact that nobody will let this show die the necessary death it needs, both of these fucktards seem set and determined to make this new era of their kids’ lives as difficult as possible.

Let me count the ways…

It would be easy to lash out at Jon and say he’s being the more stupid and irresponsible one, and perhaps he is. Personally, I’ve been more lenient with him than most people because to me what's happening is a classic case of someone who’s found a new wealth of freedom and opportunity that they didn’t have before. Look at lottery winners, look at freshmen college kids at house parties. I’ve had first-hand experience dealing with someone who went from a situation where they constantly felt repressed to a situation where they had no boundaries. They went overboard and it didn’t end well. Jon married young and was a father of 8 before he even turned 30. His actions since the separation are similar to what an average dude would do before settling down. He’s recapturing the single 20’s he never had.

The other issue here is that I’ve been on Jon’s side from the very beginning. There have been countless times where I’ve literally flinched at the crap Kate has said to Jon on camera. From correcting his grammar, pronunciation, or what the fuck ever it was he was apparently doing wrong at whatever time, it was just too much. And that was just the stuff the cameras caught. So to turn against him now and side with Kate feels very very wrong.

I agree that Kate has publicly handled the separation better than Jon, but that does not make her a victim of his immaturity. If she were truly taking the high road, I wouldn’t hear about her doing interviews on talk shows and Larry King. She’s committed to painting herself in the more favorable light in the media, and that pisses me off just as much as Jon’s shit does.

They’ve both resorted to using the media to get the last word in on each other, which is just a FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC way of dealing with unresolved anger. And surely the kids never go on the Internet, go to a store that sells gossip magazines, or go to a school with kids and parents who have access to those things. Nah, no reason to worry here!

This morning as I was avoiding writing my paper, I read on EW.com about Jon’s Good Morning American interview, the highlight quote being: “I despise Kate.”

….........................

Ok, first of all…..duh. Second, YOU REALLY FELT THE NEED TO SAY THAT OUTLOUD?! It’s one thing to hate your ex. It’s one thing for your kids to guess that you hate their mom. IT IS ANOTHER FUCKING THING ALTOGETHER TO HAVE THAT FACT CONFIRMED TO THEM ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.

What. The. Fuck?

And Lord only knows how SHE’S going to respond to this. Because you know she’ll respond. She can’t NOT respond. Because she is incapable of taking the high road and saying nothing.

SERIOUSLY, I just want to throw rocks at both of these idiots. Your kids will find out about ALL OF THIS SHIT! You can try and shield them from the evils of the world, but there’s no shielding them from YOU.

I always sort of waited for the day when Mady would throw the tantrum of tantrums, put her foot down, and refuse to put up with this shit. The other kids would follow suit and that would be the end of the show. But lately I’ve gotten the feeling that she’s become just as hooked on this shit as her mom. So much for that option. Kara, being the most sensible member of the entire family, would seem like the natural next best option, but she’s not exactly the confrontational type. Plus, in my opinion, her choosing the “haunted house” style for her crooked house is a hint of an inner emo girl threatening to break out. Time will tell on that front...

Hannah’s got spunk, but I don’t think she has the balls to stand up to Kate. Leah is… whatever Leah is, lol. (She’s cute and all, but I really know nothing about her.) Colin is too interested in his own little structured world. Aaden’s too busy being utterly delighted with everything he encounters. And my dear sweet Joel is… well… not quite up to the job intellectually. God bless him.

So that leaves the sweet, awesome little wonder that is Alexis Faith Gosselin. She’s spunky, fearless, vocal, and prefers alligators to Barbie dolls. She is AMAZING. And she knows that none of this shit is okay. That moment between her and Jon at the kids’ birthday party still breaks my heart. As far as I’m concerned, all that’s holding her back is her young age of 5 years. My hope is that once she’s older and more articulate she’ll take matters into her own hands, stand up for her and her siblings, and show her parents once and for all that this madness has got to end.
Time will tell. And who knows, a successful resolution to this mess may be just around the riverbend.

Until then…. ALEXIS GOSSELIN FOR AMERICA 2042

SYTYCD Finale Ramblings

  • Aug. 5th, 2009 at 10:25 PM
tyce dioriO!
First off, I'd like to point out that Cat Deeley manages to be both the Ryan and the Paula of this show, and manages both roles much more effectively. Just sayin'.... yet another reason why this show is better in like EVERY SINGLE WAY.

First up, the interviews and solos!

Brandon--I like how he's managed to be a front runner without actually being a front runner, like Whatsername. That and his "Aw, shucks you guys really think I'm awesome?" attitude have kept him grounded, and I just really fucking like this guy. The solo was killer. Yet again. I'd be totally fine with him winning. And his smile can move mountains, js.

Jeanine--She really impressed me week one and has never stopped since. Philip was sort of expected to be one of the superstars this season, but it became abundantly clear really quickly that she supported him, not the other way around. I like her a lot. She's confident without the "Yeah, that's right, I'm awesome" quality that Whatsername has. I really can not take my eyes off her when she dances. And OMG Adam's comments! This was one of those solos that made me wish I knew more about dance, because I think I would have appreciated it more. The flower was a distraction, but those pirouettes were just killer! I really would love for her to pull out a darkhorse win.

Evan--I love his brother, lol. If he doesn't make top 20 next season it'll kill me. I miss full out loving Evan. I wish I wasn't rooting for him to lose, it seems wrong. The solo was cute and lovable as always, but it was still fluffy as always. I would have bet $100 that he'd dance to Michael Buble. It'd have been nice see him take a bit of a risk with the final solo, just to show he's got some sort of variety, but I suppose that would have pissed off a lot of people. Kudos to Nigel for calling him out.

Kayla, a.k.a. Whatsername--It's really her blah blonde-like personality that I hate (her favorite pastime is texting on her sparkly pink phone--GAG) If she was like weird and cool I could get behind her. Omg I miss Kupono! At least she changed up her usual busy solo, but it was really quite meh. Adam agrees with me, lol. Mary lies. You know Nigel, if you don't want people to be pissed about you shoving people down their throats, maybe you should not shove people down their throats. Just a thought. Notice he didn't talk about the solo. Ha!

The routines....

Group performance (Wade & Amanda jazz)--I was so excited when I heard Wade's name, but this whole routine was just blah for me. It was solid, I guess, but I kept waiting for it to get awesome and it never did.

Jeanine and Evan (Sonja jazz)--I fucking love Sonja's work. I ended up really liking it. Evan stepped it up and Jeanine was amazing! But without a weird and unique theme I wonder how memorable it will be when it comes time to vote.

Whatsername and Brandon (Tyce broadway)--My god, I actually liked a Tyce broadway, lol. It even made Kayla likable for, like, a minute. Except for her fucking hair...what is it about her hair that makes it uncontrollable and always in her face? Squee! They did that turn thing with the leg sticking out that I loooooove!

Evan and Brandon (LoriAnn pop jazz)
--Wow, they both looked kinda hot, lol. Again, I give credit to Evan for stepping it up and going for it, but Brandon is simply just better in every way. Evan never really gets fully into his characters. You can totally tell she choreographed this for Brandon and Ade. And with those two feeding off each other's energy it just might have been epic, but here it's just kind of a mess. And WTF Mary?? That was fantastic. But they spent more time politely critiquing Evan than praising Brandon. That might get the crazy Evan fans fired up.

Jeanine and Whatername (Mia contemporary)--I'm glad that the girls got a real routine this year. (Tyce's girl routine from last season just kinda...blew, lol. They had to dance with fucking parasols! Parasols!). I just loooooove how the choreography put Kayla in front...*massive eyeroll* The concept of the dance was okay, but the whole shedding of layers and seeing how they get across the stage was very distracting. I watched the costumes more than the dancers. Nigel, you filthy old man. Love that he gave extra props to Jeanine at the end though.

Whatsername and Evan (Tony and Melanie jive)
--Yay for showing Kayla screwing up in rehearsals! Lol. I usually don't like Tony and Melanie's choreography tbh. This was a bit better, but it was really more fluff than anything. "Hey look! Kayla has legs! Isn't that awesome?!" Adam agrees with me! Evan must be pissed he got the jive again, they've pointed out multiple times that his contractions aren't as good. (I acutally think they look fine, but maybe compared side by side with someone doing it better I'd be able to tell. ::shrug::) I wonder how this routine would have worked with Brandon instead. Awww, Evan love from the audience. I'm in support of anything that takes the attention away from Whatsername. So yes, yay Evan! Aim for 3rd! (This does concern me about him getting higher than 3rd, but I don't want to think about that lol.)

Jeanine and Brandon (Louis paso doble)
--I love Louis. I usually don't like the paso doble because most times the dancers can't pull it off, but these two made it work. This one also had much better music and costumes as well. This was actually really cool, the more I watch the more I like it! I've always like Jeanine's ballroom routines, they've never given her enough credit for always pulling them off effortlessly. I agree with Adam about there was constant movement in between the steps and that's what really made it excellent. I like when Mary talks ballroom, reminding us that she's actually quite qualified. Omg Nigel, you filthy beast. How has he not been sued yet? Lmao. I do sort of love how honest he is about it though. Yes Nigel! They are the best! Woo hooooooooooooo Mary scream!  Best dance of the night, by far!

*Bonus lol points for Cat calling Adam less of a man for not calling a winner, lolz! But you can't blame him. Brandon and Jeanine were clearly the best tonight, but the Evan fans are just the major x-factor in all of this. The results could fall any way really.

**"Evan, you are such a lovely, lovely lad." Omg, Nigel, I love you and your Englishness!

And sooo.... my ideal results would be:

1) Jeanine
2) Brandon
3 and 4) What the fuck ever. I'd put Evan 3rd because I like him much more over Whatsername, but based on technical merit 4th is much more fitting.

Like in American Idol, I tend to favor the boys over the girls on this show. And going into the Top 20 I expected the boys to dominate, but all of the girls this season really impressed me, even the ones I tended not to favor. I love Brandon A LOT and I'd be fine with him winning. But Jeanine managed to win me over in week one having had almost no airtime before then, and I almost never have favorites that are girls. So I'm calling Jeanine for number one. I think she's deserving considering she had to earn and build her fanbase week after week through just plain excellent dancing, without the MAJOR boosts the other 3 finalists got in the audition and Vegas rounds.

Looking forward to tomorrow's episode! I love seeing past routines from the season. Fingers crossed for the Crash Test Dummies routine and Jeanine and Jason's contemporary!

REM's "Shiny Happy People" came on the radio as I was leaving Walgreen's today, and that made me feel shiny and happy.  :D

Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, Karl Malden.

Now, realistically, three of those deaths were either expected or explainable due to old age. But put them all together in the span of ONE WEEK and it's just a little to much to handle.

And because he'll probably get the least love and attention, my dear Karl Malden shall be the one getting the tribute here.

This icon is my official icon for today and tomorrow, because.... OMFG IT'S AN ADAM AND KRIS FINAL TWO!!!!!!

My favorites almost never, EVER win this show.  Like, I'm 1 for 6 (excluding seasons 1 & 6, oddly enough lol).  David Cook is the sole exception.  But now, NOW, both of my favorites of this season are the final two, and I can barely handle it.

For the record, I want Adam to win hardcore.  I love him dearly and fucking deserves it.  But Kris and his beautiful, lop-sided mouth won me over in semis and hasn't let me go, and I'll be quite happy to have him take second over.... others.  *cough* DANNY! *cough*

Less than two hours to show time!  So fucking excited!
